Employee fatally crushed at Chicago-area food production plant

A 61-year-old man was fatally crushed by pallets Friday in an accident at a Chicago-area food manufacturing facility. The plant produces batter blends, pastry blends, Japanese bread crumbs, and American bread crumbs, according to the company’s website. WMAQ (Chicago)

 

Fed-OSHA proposes over $177K penalty following struck-by incident at Wisconsin food plant

A forklift struck and seriously injured a 60-year-old seasonal employee as she walked toward a pallet to label products for shipping at a Ripon, Wisconsin vegetables canning plant last year. As a result of its November inspection, which found another employee had suffered a fractured finger when it was caught in machinery that the New York-based employer failed to lockout, Fed-OSHA has issued more than $177,000 in penalties to the employer. Michigan OSHA has launched a new online resource to streamline reporting of workplace safety citations related to COVID-19. Employee at Colorado meat plant dies after struck-by incident

A Colorado meatpacking plant employee died Saturday after a piece of equipment hit him in the head, according to a union representative. It’s the second serious incident to happen at the plant in the last three months, according to the union. KDVR
