MNOSHA cites two Twin Cities hospitals for COVID hazards

Minnesota OSHA has cited two Twin Cities hospitals for hazards related to insufficient COVID-19 protections for frontline caregivers. MNOSHA inspectors have conducted unannounced site visits at seven hospitals in the area for COVID-related complaints from workers since May 5. Long Island nursery employee seriously injured in farm equipment incident

A Jamesport, New York nursery employee was hospitalized Saturday after his his upper body and right arm became trapped in a piece of farm equipment. The man regained a pulse after police and emergency medical service responders performed CPR on him. Riverhead News-Review

 

NIOSH grant promotes ladder safety at Pitt

According to NIOSH, ladder fall injuries cost $24 billion annually in the United States, with falls accounting for more than a quarter of of nonfatal and 16 percent of fatal workplace injuries. A $1.8-million grant by NIOSH for a study by the University of Pittsburgh will allow researchers to measure friction as the pathway for the ladder and individual to influence slip and fall risk. Fed-OSHA never visited Missouri poultry facility after COVID-19 complaints

A total of 371 workers connected to a Missouri poultry plant eventually tested positive for COVID-19 in June after wide scale testing at the facility nearly two months after a complaint to Fed-OSHA, which relied on a written response and pictures from the company instead of sending inspectors to investigate the claims, according to documents obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request. OR-OSHA to consider temporary rule during pandemic

Oregon OSHA has proposed a temporary rule intended to prevent the spread of coronavirus in all workplaces by requiring employers to implement measures including social distancing, barriers, face coverings, cleanings, and information sharing.
