An employee was injured Thursday morning at the construction site of the new Marriott International headquarters in downtown Bethesda, Maryland when was struck by falling debris, possibly a piece of wood, while he worked in an elevator shaft. Two employers cited after scaffolding collapse at New Hampshire worksite

Fed-OSHA earlier this year fined two employers following a scaffolding collapse that caused an employee to fall 20 to 30 feet during construction on a Keene hotel in February. At least one other person was on the scaffolding when it collapsed but avoided injury by jumping into the hotel’s interior through an open window, according to a local fire official. One of the companies, a Connecticut-based construction contractor, was cited for nine violations and fined more than $35,000. Keene Sentinel

 

NLRB accuses Google of illegally spying on and firing employee activists

The National Labor Relations Board on Wednesday filed a complaint accusing Google of violating labor laws during a crackdown on employee activism last year, including that the company “virtually surveilled” and then interrogated employees and later fired them. Two former Google employees fired by the company late last year for involvement in employee activism are both named in the complaint. Business Insider

 

OR-OSHA has received 15K workplace complaints since March for COVID-19

Nevada OSHA reports compliance rate over 90 percent

Currently, there are 18 active inspections in the state in relation to noncompliance by Nevada OSHA. The agency reports it has found a 96 percent statewide compliance rate, and a 97 percent rate in the north and 93 percent compliance rate in Southern Nevada on follow-up visits since compliance checks began in late June, the agency reports.
