Energy Company Faces Huge Fines

• Michigan company LG Energy Solution, a manufacturer of Lithium batteries, is facing thousands of dollars in citations.
• The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration found 10 violations at the company, as the result of inspections in 2023 and 2024.
• A safety complaint drew the attention of MIOSHA alleging that the company had untrained and unqualified employees performing certain work tasks.
• MIOSHA cited the company for two willful and eight serious violations. The two willful violations require that LG Energy be supervised under the Severe Violator Enforcement Program.

Silver State Lowers the Heat

• The Nevada Safety Occupational Health Administration is proposing a new rule to address heat-related illnesses.
• The proposed rule would require employers to put together a heat illness prevention plan for employees working in environments that are 90 degrees or over.
• Some of the requirements of the plan include providing shade or other means of cooling, creating a means of providing water, and providing rest breaks for those showing heat-related illness symptoms.
