Healthcare Workers Want Burnout Solutions Via Their Hospitals

• Healthcare workers need hospital leaders to address the systemic factors at the root of staff burnout, according to data recently collected by NIOSH as part of its campaign focusing on primary prevention in hospital settings and intervening before poor mental health outcomes occur.
• Healthcare workers in hospitals historically experience high levels of burnout and risk for poor well being, and the pandemic exacerbated these issues, according to the agency formally known as the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
• The agency found that while existing efforts to reduce typically placed responsibility on the healthcare worker to take action, they actually don’t want efforts to focus on individual resilience.
