OSHA Upgrades Injury Tracking App to Include Case Details

  • OSHA upgraded its Injury Tracking Application to now include collected data on workplace injuries and illnesses from establishments with 100 or more employees in certain high-hazard industries. 
  • The data includes information on the type of injury or illness, the cause of the incident, and the industry and occupation of the affected worker.
  • Certain establishments submitted summary data from the OSHA Form 300A since 2016, the agency said on Wednesday.
  • Beginning this year, some establishments were also required to submit certain case details from OSHA Forms 300 and 301.
  • The app also provides OSHA Form 300A Summary Data by establishment from submitted OSHA Form 300A information, as well as available 300 and 301 data that establishments submitted pursuant to OSHA regulations.

Washington State Adult Entertainer Protections Set to Go Into Effect

  • Rules filed in recent days to protect adult entertainers in Washington State are set to go into effect on Jan. 2, according to the state’s Department of Labor & Industries.
  • The new rules require installation of protective systems for club workers, including accessible panic buttons in bathrooms, dressing rooms, and each room where entertainers could be alone with customers.
  • Meanwhile, workers will now be allowed to keep their tips and gratuities and not disclose the amounts, eliminating unfair financial systems that held adult entertainers responsible for most of the club’s fees.

Uptick in Workplace Fatalities Prompts Virginia Action

  • A rise in workplace fatalities has prompted Virginia’s Department of Labor and Industry to launch a new statewide emphasis initiative.
  • The Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) program will run from January 2025 to July 2025, publishing information to increase awareness and focus on the leading hazards and actions behind the deaths.
  • The agency is starting with fall protection to ensure the safety of all elevated work, it said.
  • “Over the past few months, VOSH has conducted investigations into several preventable incidents related to a number of occupational hazards and our first focus area will be on fall hazards”, said Charles Stiff, CSP, Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry.
