$65 Million Investment Launches Canada Occupational Injury Network

  • Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will make a $65.8 million investment to
    establish Canada’s first Occupational Injury Prevention and Treatment Network.
  • The new network will integrate cutting-edge technology with cross-disciplinary collaboration to address chronic pain, mental health, and musculoskeletal (MSC) injuries.
  • The initiative also includes a cutting-edge Computer-Assisted Rehabilitation Environment (CAREN), which uses virtual reality to test and solve workplace injury challenges.

  • A new study found that Canadian employers are significantly behind the curve when it comes to ensuring their employees have adequate mental health coverage.
  • The study, from the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health, gave failing marks to both government resources and employers.
  • “The evidence is clear: investing in employee mental health leads to better productivity, fewer absences, and a stronger bottom line. It’s a return on investment, not just a cost,” said Glenn Brimacombe, chair of the Alliance’s public affairs committee.
