Nevada to Begin Heat Rule Enforcement
- Nevada’s new Heat Regulation will be fully enforced starting April 29, according to the state’s Division of Industrial Relations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
- The regulation mandates that businesses with more than 10 employees conduct a job hazard analysis to identify working conditions that could lead to heat illness.
- If risks are found, employers must develop a written safety program that includes providing potable water, rest breaks, cooling methods, and emergency procedures.
- Employers are also required to train employees on recognizing and minimizing heat illness hazards.

OSHA Honors Workers Memorial Day April 24
- OSHA said Workers Memorial Day Events will be held in more than 20 states in addition to Washington, D.C. on April 24.
- The agency said in 2023, more than 5,200 workers in the U.S. were fatally injured on the job, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. “That’s one worker every 99 minutes and about 15 lives lost each day,” according to the agency’s announcement.
- The agency said it continues to work with the Alliance with United Support and Memorial for Workplace Fatalities to more effectively communicate with loved ones of workplace fatality victims and raise awareness of workplace safety and health issues.
