Officials identify Utahn who died after trench collapse
The 36-year-old man who died when the trench he was working on at a construction site collapsed on him Saturday in Spanish Fork, Utah, was identified by authorities on Friday. He reportedly was partially pulled from the trench by his coworkers before first responders reached the scene. Initially conscious and talking, the employee’s condition reportedly worsened quickly. Man killed in New Hampshire construction accident
A man died Wednesday after being struck in the head while working at a Londonderry, New Hampshire construction site. According to law enforcement, the man was stationed on the ground, working with a very large drill when a large cable came loose, striking him in the head. Fed-OSHA is investigating. Grain bin accidents caused 23 deaths last year
According to Fed-OSHA, a person standing on moving grain will be trapped within just five seconds and completely covered in grain within less than half a minute. Last year in the United States, there were 38 grain entrapment cases with 23 of those leading to fatalities, according to researchers at Purdue University’s Agricultural Safety and Health Program. So far in 2020, 11 grain entrapment cases have been reported in Illinois with four fatalities, according to the Illinois Fire Service Institute. Telegraph
Fed-OSHA recognizes contractor for federal complex demolition
Fed-OSHA recently recognized Chicago-based Brandenburg Industrial Service Company for its work demolishing the Bannister Federal Complex, which was comprised of approximately 4.5 million square feet and located on 300 acres in Kansas City, Missouri. According to the agency, there were no occupational overexposures to silica, total dust, respirable dust and asbestos were determined during the duration of the demolition project, in addition to various other safety and health achievements. Las Vegas-area postal plant has at least 24 COVID cases

A 25-year-old man operating a scraper died after the machine rolled down a large hill in Ada County, Idaho, last Monday. The man was thrown from the scraper and struck by it, according to officials. KTVB (Boise)
Three bodies removed from site of Texas construction collapse
Crews last week recovered bodies of the three construction workers killed in a collapsed stairwell at the future Marathon Oil headquarters in Houston. A portion of precast stairwell collapsed Monday afternoon, crushing the three employees and injuring another. LMTonline (Laredo, Texas)
