Country club near Las Vegas cited for COVID-19 violation

A Henderson, Nevada country club and a restaurant in Reno were issued citations for violations of required COVID-19 health and safety measures last week by Nevada OSHA. The agency says they were the only two businesses in the state cited for the week of October 5-9. The country club reportedly hosted an event at which the 50-person limit of attendees was exceeded, and face coverings were not being worn as required. KTNV (Las Vegas)

 

Report: 2018 deadliest year for Connecticut workers since 2010

More Connecticut employees died on the job in 2018 than in any year since 2010, according to a new report released Friday by the AFL-CIO. The job fatality rate in the state was 2.8 per 100,000 employees, slightly better than the national rate of 3.5 per 100,000 workers killed on the job that year. News Times (Danbury, Conn.)

 

Miami-area employee survives 40 foot fall inside front-end loader

Fed-OSHA is investigating after a man fell about 40 feet while strapped inside the compartment of a front-end loader in Hallandale Beach, Florida and reportedly only sustained minor injuries. Officials say a section of a building, which was under construction, collapsed. CBS Miami

 

Employee succumbs to injures days after workplace accident

A 54-year-old Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin man died several days after suffering a substantial head laceration when he was struck in the head by a piece of machinery at a plastic fabrication company. Fed-OSHA is investigating. WQOW (Eau Claire, Wisc.)

The Associated Press recently tested N95 facemasks, which are supposed to filter out 95 precent of dangerous particles from the air, and the results were “most are fakes.” WCNC (Charlotte, N.C.)

 

Minnesota lawmaker files complaint over inconsistent mask wearing by colleagues

A Brooklyn Center, Minnesota state senator, who is also a nurse, says the state senate has not taken proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and has filed a labor complaint in response. State Sen. Chris Eaton says her Republican colleagues infrequently wear masks at the capitol, on the senate floor and in the Minnesota Senate Building. Waseca County News

 

Employee fatally injured at Long Island business
