Labor Department may revoke Utah plan over healthcare employee emergency standards
The U.S. Department of Labor announced Tuesday it is moving to revoke Utah’s state-run occupational safety and health program, on grounds it has not implemented an emergency workplace safety rule requiring hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities to have a written plan to slow the spread of the virus, or indicated it will enact an alternative at least as effective as federal standards. North Carolina poultry plant employees say an unknown chemical is causing health issues
Employees of a North Carolina poultry plant, the largest facility processing large chickens in the world, say they’re being exposed to unusually high doses of a toxic chemical. In the US, chickens are often washed with chlorine and other disinfectants during processing to reduce pathogens like salmonella and campylobacter. Lawmakers reject TOSHA’s COVID mitigation rule
The Tennessee Joint Government Operations Committee has requested Tennessee TOSHA withdraw a request for a temporary rule involving COVID-19 safety measures at healthcare facilities. The rule requires health care businesses of 10 or more employees to conduct a COVID-19 risk assessment and create a written COVID-19 mitigation plan, which includes cleaning and training measures.
