Tennessee labor commissioner won’t rescind OSHA Fed-OSHA COVID rule
The commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development said he will not rescind a Fed-OSHA rule regarding COVID-19 mitigation efforts in healthcare facilities. The temporary rule requires healthcare businesses of 10 or more employees to conduct a COVID-19 risk assessment and create a written COVID-19 mitigation plan, which includes cleaning and training measures. Fed-OSHA may revoke Arizona plan over emergency standards for healthcare employees
Fed-OSHA may revoke an Arizona agency’s authority to enforce workplace safety standards because state officials have yet to adopt emergency standards for healthcare employees. Twenty-two states have state-based OSHA programs. Only Arizona, South Carolina and Utah are not in compliance with the emergency standards. KJZZ
Nurses union supports Fed-OSHA action against states
National Nurses United, the country’s largest nurses’ union, praised the federal government on Wednesday after officials said three states tasked with implementing their own safety measures for healthcare employees would lose that right unless they adhered to agreed-upon guidelines.
