Nevada OSHA impersonators target southern region of state
Reports are increasing of of people posing as Nevada OSHA officials. Initial reports came from Northern Nevada, but now Southern Nevada has seen an uptick. A spokesman for Nevada OSHA says there hasn’t been an obvious pattern for the types of businesses that are targeted by impersonators, but businesses should be aware of what to look out for. Nevada OSHA to dismiss citations against county and airport
Following settlement conferences, two citations classified as serious that were issued by the Nevada OSHA in connection with an outdoor campaign rally at Minden-Tahoe Airport in September will be dismissed. The citations initially were issued based on alleged violations of an executive order prohibiting public gatherings in groups of more than 50 people in any indoor or outdoor area. Record-Courier
Fed-OSHA won’t cite Denver supermarket where three died from COVID-19
A Denver supermarket will not be cited by Fed-OSHA following an investigation into working conditions that was triggered by the deaths of three employees from COVID-19, generating criticism by their union. Store management was not enforcing a mask mandate, and inspectors raised concerns that proper cleaning was not happening inside the store, according to a copy of Fed-OSHA’s letter provided by the union. Rhode Island ice company to plead guilty to violations for ammonia storage
A Providence, Rhode Island-area ice company is set to plead guilty to violating the Clean Air Act by repeatedly failing to implement a risk management plan for an accidental release of anhydrous ammonia, according to court documents. Inspections by the EPA, Fed-OSHA, and a local fire department found corrosion on ammonia-carrying pipes and on the facility’s high- pressure ammonia receiver, the failure of corrosion-preventing insulation on the pipes, and inadequate inspection, testing, and maintenance of the ammonia piping and receiver.
