Construction watchdog launches in Nevada during pandemic

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a group that intends to monitor safety protocols at Nevada construction jobsites, collect data on workforce and safety personnel, and assemble teams that could be deployed to build field hospitals and convert hotels or housing into hospital overflow units, had launched a website to allow anonymous reporting of issues at jobsites. Oregon OSHA warns of COVID-19 scams

OR-OSHA says it has received multiple reports of fraudulent activity related to the coronavirus pandemic, including people showing up at jobsites pretending to be division compliance officers and attempting to issue thousands of dollars in fines and demanding immediate cash payments. FDA to allow imports of KN95 masks from China amid PPE shortage

The Food and Drug Administration reportedly will no longer block the import of KN95 masks, which have been described as the Chinese equivalent of an N95 mask that healthcare employees use to protect themselves from airborne bacteria and viruses, due to a nationwide shortage of personal protective equipment. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has included the KN95 mask as an alternative to other certified masks that should be used on an emergency basis. The Hill

 

Fed-OSHA fines New Jersey employer $150K following amputation incident

A Lawrence, New Jersey packaging facility has been fined more than $150,000 by Fed-OSHA for serious and repeat violations after an employee suffered an amputation injury last fall. Fed-OSHA cites employer on Florida interstate project following fatal accident

Fed-OSHA has fined a construction contractor nearly $189,000 for two separate incidents involving workers at I-4 Ultimate construction sites in Orlando which led to one person’s death and hospitalization of two others. The agency also fined another employer for exposing employees to hazards from rolling pipes and fined it more than $12,000. Spectrum News
