Fed-OSHA issues citations after death of teen employee in Oklahoma

Fed-OSHA has cited a construction company for violations classified as willful, after an 18-year-old employee died after falling into a silo last year in Oklahoma City. The agency determined the conveyor system was not locked out to avoid accidental startups. The employee was pulled into a hot asphalt silo as he tried to remove debris from the conveyor. KFOR

 

Activists push for more safety measures in Nevada

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, injuries and deaths of employees in Nevada are outpacing the rest of the nation. Deaths in the construction industry increased in 2020, according to the latest state data. Boston firemen save construction worker from collapsed power plant building

Boston firemen worked for more than three hours to rescue an injured construction worker after part of a historic power plant collapsed Wednesday while being redeveloped. Two other construction workers also were removed from the former power plant in South Boston and taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Wednesday’s incident was the second collapse at a Boston construction site this year; a construction worker died in March when a part of a parking garage being demolished collapsed. Spectrum News 1
