Fed-OSHA updates recordkeeping guidance

On May 26, Fed-OSHA issued updated guidance concerning employers’ recordkeeping responsibilities with respect to employee COVID-19 cases. In determining whether an employer has complied with its obligations to make a reasonable determination of work-relatedness, the agency will consider the reasonableness of the employer’s investigation, the evidence available to the employer, and the evidence the disease was contracted at work. Colorado legislative committee passes whistleblower protections

The Colorado House Committee on Finance passed legislation June 6 to protect whistleblowers during health emergencies. The bill is intended to protect employees from retaliation when they raise concerns about the health and safety of their workplace to their employer, coworkers, the public, or government agencies. It gives workers the right to wear protective equipment to work, and it requires employers to inform employees of their rights to blow the whistle on unsafe conditions. Florida recovery enters second phase

The second phase of the Florida’s reopening plan went into effect June 5 for all counties except Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. On Anna Maria Island taverns and bars were back in business started back up on Friday, with full capacity outdoors and half-capacity inside. This phase also allows retailers to operate at full capacity while maintaining sanitization protocols and social distancing guidelines. Islander
