Fed-OSHA fines Georgia pillow maker $190K

Fed-OSHA has cited a south Georgia pillow manufacturer following an inspection that found three employees sustained amputation injuries amid repeat workplace safety violations, and fined the company more than $190,000. The agency issued new violations, classified as serious, for allegedly locking an emergency exit door from the outside, failing to have emergency action plans in place, failing to establish and use equipment-specific procedures to control hazardous energy and train workers on the procedures. Injured federal employees may soon have more treatment options

The House of Representatives has passed legislation that would expand federal employees’ choice of medical providers. The act would cover the cost of medical care for injured federal workers who seek treatment from physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
