Three Nevada DOT employees struck by truck in Carson City

Three Nevada Department of Transportation employees were injured Tuesday after getting hit by a truck on U.S. 395 in Carson City. The agency says they were within a marked roadside shoulder doing survey work for a future highway resurfacing project. Two were on the highway shoulder when they were hit, while another team member was hit while inside a work vehicle, according to NDOT. KOLO

Department of Labor recovers $166K in back wages for Oklahoma convenience store employees

A U.S. Department of Labor investigation has found a Shawnee, Oklahoma gas station and convenience store made illegal deductions from its employees’ pay for uniforms and cash register shortages that brought wages below the federally required minimum wage. By law, if an employer requires the worker to bear the cost of uniforms, their rate of pay must not fall below the minimum wage or impact overtime compensation owed. KFOR

 

School employee slammed into locker during fight

A school employee was flown to a hospital after being injured during a student fight at a Maryland high school, sheriff’s department officials said. The incident is under investigation by the school’s resource officer. After the investigation is complete, it will be sent to the State Attorney’s Office for review. Miami Herald
