Healthcare workers targeted with threats, violence by patients
According to Fed-OSHA, incidents of serious workplace violence were at least five times higher in healthcare than in other industries. In a 2018 poll conducted by the American College of Emergency Physicians, 47 percent of respondents said they had been physically assaulted. One Connecticut representative in Congress recently introduced a bill that, if passed, would direct Fed-OSHA to go beyond voluntary guidelines, and require employers to have violence prevention plans in place. Fed-OSHA not investigating fires at Wisconsin substations
Fed-OSHA says it’s not investigating a pair of fires Friday at substations for Madison Gas and Electric. According to energy company officials, the substations were electronically connected and the two fires were related. No injuries were reported, but the fires caused a power outage that affected thousands of customers in downtown Madison. Channel 3000 (Madison, Wisc.)
Crane falls into house in New Jersey
No one was injured Sunday night during high winds in New Brunswick, New Jersey when a construction crane fell into a home. The crane was part of a construction site for Rutgers University student housing. Fed-OSHA reportedly responded. TAPinto.net
Crane accident kills Texas worker
A 40-year-old construction worker died in a crane accident Monday at the site of a new high school in Bexar County, Texas, when he became pinned by the crane. Fed-OSHA is investigating. KENS (San Antonio)
Louisiana: Compliance assistance training for H-2A, H-2B visa certification
