More Than 100 Nonprofits Share in $13 Million OSHA Workplace Training Grants
- Some $12.7 million in Susan Harwood Training Grants have been awarded to 102 nonprofit organizations to fund education and training initiatives focused on creating safer workplaces.
- The average award size is $125,165.
- This round of funding was awarded to programs in the categories of targeted topic training, training and educational materials development, and capacity building, according to the Department of Labor’s announcement.

Weyerhauser Cited by North Carolina Following Worker Death
- The North Carolina Labor Department has cited Weyerhaeuser NR for serious safety breaches at a sawmill in a March 17 incident that resulted in the death of a worker.
- The now-closed sawmill faces penalties totaling $48,393 in the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission of North Carolina inspection.
- According to local reports, officials said “The penalties are in no way designed to make up for the loss of life.”
