PENSACOLA, FL – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has signed a strategic partnership with Brasfield & Gorrie to promote worker safety and health at the Baptist Health Care Corp.’s Brent Lane Hospital project in Pensacola. The University of South Florida On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program will also support this effort.

This partnership seeks to prevent injuries and exposure to hazards during the construction of a 10-story, 575,000-square-foot main hospital; a 25,000-square-foot central energy plant; and a 6-story, 175,000-square-foot medical office building. Under the agreement, the partners will focus on personal protective equipment; heat illness prevention and hazards related to falls; struck-by and caught-in/between objects; electric, fire protection and prevention; and hand and power tools, silica and noise safety. The partners will also encourage contractors to develop and implement safety and health programs and provide related training to workers, employers and supervisors.

OSHA’s Strategic Partnership Program works with employers, employees, professional and trade associations, labor organizations and other interested stakeholders to establish specific goals, strategies and performance measures to improve worker safety and health.
